So you want to give up sugar?

I know many of you may have tried this before and have found out how much will power it takes to overcome sugar cravings when they arise.  It is very difficult to remove your sugar cravings and get sugar out of your life.  Knowing how to balance your yin and yang can help.  Remember that sugar is an extreme yin substance.  Sugar cravings then are an indication that the body is out of balance on the yang side.  This means that the person is in excess yang.  So in order to end the yin cravings and come into balance we have to reduce the yang side.  The yang side is salt, sodium, meat, sunlight, fish, cheese, eggs, and dry foods, baked foods, fried foods, etc.  In order to reduce the yang side, we have to reduce the yin intake.  This sounds like a teeter totter of reductions, a little on the yang side and a little on the yin side.

The real solution is to correct towards the middle.  Filling in the middle means adding more whole grains, vegetables, soups, and sea vegetables to your diet.  Avoid yang cooking styles and hidden yin like caffeine and other chemicals.

When I first started to balance, my sugar cravings persisted for two years until they finally stopped.  During that time they were greatly reduced however, so I was back in control of my life.

Giving up sugar without balancing the system is like trying to stop a tsunami by standing on the beach with your arms outstretched and saying, "No!  No!  No!"  It ain't going to happen.
